As you might know by now, we love the Rolex Datejust—and we’ve got a rare one in now!
This classic 36mm reference 1601/8—denoted by its luxurious 18k yellow gold execution—boasts a stunning Onyx stone dial that steals the show! The gold case is impressively thick, complemented by a beautifully fluted bezel that’s in excellent condition.
The Onyx dial is pristine, free from cracks or scratches, and we absolutely adore these dials on a four-digit Datejust. The plexiglass adds depth that you just don’t get with later models featuring flat sapphire glass. Plus, the plexi versions are significantly rarer than their quick-setting movement counterparts!
Gazing at this dial feels like peering into a deep barrel of oil—richly black, with just the right touch of luxury from the gold Rolex coronet and the date window. It’s simply mesmerizing! The dial also features “T Swiss T” printing and beautifully colored lume on the hands. We decided to put glass without a loupe on this one—we feel it gives the watch just that extra “pop”!
The 18k gold Jubilee bracelet is equally impressive, with solid end links (ref. 53) and a non-concealed clasp stamped 2/71. It fits wrists up to 19 cm. This lovely Datejust has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
